Description

Spend First Fridays in Delaware, Ohio sharing information and stories about the Delaware County Historical Society’s Historic Jail and Sheriff’s Residence.

Built in the 1870’s, the Historic Jail and Sheriff’s Residence is open to the public for tours during Delaware, Ohio’s First Friday events, and we need volunteers to “show off” our jail.  You can choose to greet visitors as they enter the historic facility, or guide them through the sheriff’s living quarters and office or take them through the 16 cell “cell block”.  You will learn and retell stories about the sheriffs who occupied the residence and about inmates who did not want to occupy the jail.

Training will be provided and you will work with a knowledgeable team of Historical Society volunteers.  Contact the Delaware County Historical Society for more information.
