Who We Are

Our goal is to facilitate a positive and non-judgmental environment for participants and their families. Stockhands is a place where human and animal relationships can flourish through effective and creative equine-assisted therapeutic services. Stockhands Horses for Healing was founded in 2014 based on the belief that horses have the power to heal. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides equine-assisted therapeutic services to children and adults living with mental, physical, and emotional challenges arising from a wide range of diagnoses, including PTSD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Located in Delaware, Ohio, we proudly serve our home county and the surrounding central Ohio communities.

What We Do

Humans and horses share a special bond that has been documented for centuries. Coping with a mental, physical, or emotional challenge isn’t easy. Therapeutic riding programs and equine engagement offer various benefits to those navigating these challenges by helping them discover a sense of confidence, community, peace, control, mental and emotional well-being, purpose, pride, and more. The programs that we offer are; Therapeutic riding lessons for individuals with developmental and physical disabilities, Veterans program, First Responders program, Peer Support Groups, Harness and Hitch Driving, EmpowerED Youth Learning program, Corporate Team Building and Youth Field trips.

From lesson assistance to event staffing, grooming to stall cleaning, over 80% of Stockhands’ operations depend on our volunteers. Previous horse experience is not required.
