Description

At Turning Point, we understand that healing from domestic violence requires more than just physical safety—it requires nourishment for both the body and the soul. That's why we're proud to continue our Meals to Heal program, designed to provide nutritious and comforting meals for individuals and families staying at our shelter as they work towards independence and healing.

Key Features of the Meals to Heal Program:

  1. Nutritious Meals for Residents: Our dedicated Shelter Coordinator works hard to provide nutritious food for the individuals and families staying in our shelter, with a weekly grocery pickup with a modest budget. With careful attention to dietary needs and preferences, we ensure that every resident receives nutritious food that not only satisfies their hunger but also provides essential nutrients to support their well-being.

  2. Community Support Through Gift Cards: Recognizing the importance of community support in our mission, we gratefully accept donations of gift cards from local restaurants. These gift cards enable us to supplement our grocery budget with offerings from beloved local eateries, including pizza, pasta, subs, and other comforting favorites. This collaborative effort not only provides variety and convenience for our residents but also strengthens ties with our local community.

  3. Empowering Residents on Their Journey: For individuals and families staying at Turning Point, the journey towards healing and independence can be challenging, especially for those who are balancing work responsibilities alongside their healing process. By providing nourishing meals through the Meals to Heal program, we aim to alleviate some of the burdens associated with daily meal preparation, allowing residents to focus on their personal growth and healing journey.

  4. Promoting Independence and Self-Sufficiency: As residents progress in their healing journey, our goal is to equip them with the skills and resources they need to live independently and sustainably beyond their time at Turning Point. Through the Meals to Heal program, residents learn the importance of nutrition, meal planning, and budgeting, empowering them to make healthier choices and build a foundation for a life free from abuse.

  5. Fostering a Sense of Community and Belonging: Sharing meals together fosters a sense of community and belonging among residents, creating opportunities for connection, support, and mutual encouragement. Whether enjoying a home-cooked meal prepared by volunteers or savoring a treat from a local restaurant, residents find comfort and strength in the communal experience of breaking bread together.

The Meals to Heal program embodies our commitment to holistic support for survivors of domestic violence, recognizing that nourishing the body and soul is essential on the journey to healing and independence. Through the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and community partners, we continue to provide nourishment, comfort, and hope to those in need. Join us in our mission to create a community where everyone can live a life free from abuse.
