Who We Are
Seminary Hill Farm covers ten acres of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio’s 82-acre campus. The farm produces fresh vegetables, flowers, and herbs for our campus community, local food banks, and through a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA).
MTSO cares for remaining campus land through the Land Stewardship Initiative: woodland restoration, invasive species management, wetland and riparian zone restoration, native landscaping, and prairie establishment.
Both the farm and the land stewardship initiative are part of MTSO's active commitment to a just, sustainable, generative world.
In 2025, we are recruiting volunteers to assist in three primary areas:
Habitat Regeneration: Do you have a passion for rewilding? This team will work on woodland regeneration and prairie establishment throughout the 80 acres of the Methodist Theological School in Ohio’s campus with Tim Bachelor, MTSO’s Land Steward. Activities will evolve with the seasons, beginning with garlic mustard eradication, tree planting and prairie planting in the spring. Volunteer time frame: Fridays from 10am-noon.
Children and Youth Garden and Education: If you enjoy collaborative and creative gardening, consider participating in the Children and Youth Garden this year. The foundation of this team is a 90-foot diameter circular children’s garden and ADA accessible beds, which are the canvas for children’s activities every Tuesday evening from May-October during the Community Supported Agriculture season. This garden is also home to unity crops which are recommended by the MTSO community and represent many cultures. Volunteers may also help with visiting youth groups and emerging educational programs targeting children and youth. Volunteer time frame: Wednesdays from 10am-noon.
Community Greens: Each season Seminary Hill Farm grows vegetables distributed to food insecure communities through People in Need of Delaware County and Linden Fresh Market. We focus on greens (spinach, lettuce, chard, collards, kales, bok choi and more) and fresh herbs. In 2025, community greens will be concentrated in one area of the south fields. Volunteer time frame: Wednesdays from 10am-noon.

What We Do
Seminary Hill Farm and the Land Stewardship Initiative are aspects of The Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
The mission of MTSO is to provide theological education and leadership in pursuit of a just, sustainable and generative world. The school offers five graduate degrees: Master of Divinity, MA in Social Justice, MA in Practical Theology, Master of Theological Studies and Doctor of Ministry.
While MTSO is honored to be affiliated with the United Methodist Church, it benefits from greater diversity than its name might indicate. Students and faculty from 19 different denominations and faith traditions teach and learn together on the school's beautiful hillside campus.
