Stockhands Horses for Healing was founded in 2014 based on the belief that horses have the power to heal. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides equine-assisted therapeutic riding services to children and adults living with mental, physical, and emotional challenges. 

We rely on our volunteers to assist with our adaptive riding lessons, maintain our large facility, and care for our herd of 30+ horses. If you do not have any experience working with horses, we will teach you everything you need to know!

The holiday spirit is strong in Delaware and the historical Northwest Neighborhood is no exception.  Join us when we open up 10 decorated houses for a Holiday Home Tour.  We need docents to check in guest at each home.  Docents will be invited to a pre-tour on Friday event so they can see all of the homes.  To signup, go to this link:

Touring the historical Northwest Neighborhood, tourist will walk with guides to several stops hearing about the hauntings in famous places along the route.  We are looking for tour guides (speaking parts) and tour guide helpers (non-speaking parts).  Each tour is 1.5 - 2 hours of walking.  Scripts are provided.  Practice sessions are conducted. Repair Café Delaware is a neighborhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out. SDO is planning to organize a Repair Café twice a year, and the first will be 11/8. Residents of the city and county can bring their broken items to fix them on the spot with the help of voluntary repairers. Repair Café Delaware could use more handy volunteers in the area. Join us!

Individual(s) to visit the site once a month to meet with veterans and track handing out of food.

Looking for volunteers to visit Veterans at Delaware County Nursing Home and deliver supplies to them once a month.  The Arbors on the 3rd Thursday of the month, 3-4pm, Sara Moore on the 2nd Thursday of the month 11:30am-1pm and Willow Brooke Christian Village on the 4th Thursday of the month 11:45am-12:45pm.

This is a Volunteer Position. It is FABULOUS EXPERIENCE in a Christian Medical Ministry! As an intern at Grace Clinics of Ohio, your role may vary depending on your background, interests, field of study and the Clinic’s needs.

Make a meaningful impact with just your car and a little time! Help local seniors get to important medical appointments, enjoy heartfelt thank-Yous, and get mileage reimbursement too. Flexible schedule, full training (and a free CarFit check!), all while staying comfy in casual clothes.

Love staying active and helping others? Volunteer at our fitness center or pool—greet members, help them sign in, and enjoy free fitness or pool walking sessions! Just one 2-hour shift a week, with casual workout attire encouraged and CPR training included (on us!).

Tend the gardens on a beautiful evening, helping to grow food for insecure communities. 

Bring: water bottle, hat, gloves. No prior experience necessary.

About the event:  Each season Seminary Hill Farm grows vegetables distributed to food insecure communities through People in Need of Delaware County and Linden Fresh Market. We focus on greens (spinach, lettuce, chard, collards, kales, bok choi and more) and fresh herbs.  In 2025, community greens will be concentrated in one area of the south fields. 

What will volunteers do? We will be working in the Community Greens field: transplanting, harvesting, cultivating and mulching. 

What will volunteers need to bring or wear? Bring a water bottle and work gloves (if you don't have gloves, they will be provided), Wear sturdy shoes, long sleeves, long pants.

Assist with stocking donations onto shelves and packing food into sufficient bags for future distribution.

To provide bags of food already assembled, plus frozen and cold food to veterans on the 1st and 2nd Saturday of each month.

he Medical Scribe at Grace Clinics of Ohiois responsible for documenting patient encounters, assisting healthcare providers in maintainingaccurate and detailed medical records, and ensuring that clinical information is entered into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in real-time. This role supports healthcare providers by allowing them to focus on patient care while ensuring that all documentation is thorough, accurate, and compliant with regulations. 

We have a large yard we need help with on a weekly basis.  Mowing, trimming hedges, weeding, tending gardens.  Sign up for one week or as your schedule permits. If you like to work outside in a historic neighborhood, this is for you!

If you would eventually like to be Judge then being a Judging Clerk is the place to start.

You will be assisting the judges who will be judging the gourd competition.  There are three big categories. 1)  Art/Crafted Gourds  2)  Raw or Current Season Gourds  3) Manipulated Gourds

Then there are over 100 individual categories.  You will learn a lot and see up close some pretty amazing gourds and art and how the winners of ribbons are chosen.

There will be some training and tips meeting about 11:00 am  and the judging takes place from about 1:30 - 4:00 pm.

The Interpreter helps ensure that non-English speaking patients receive high-quality, compassionate medical care. 

The Greeter at Grace Clinics of Ohiois the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff. This role involves welcoming individuals to the clinic, assisting with check-in, providing information, and ensuring a positive and welcoming environment. Deliver a hot lunch and a smile! Join the volunteer team who deliver 800 meals a day around Delaware County. Mileage reimbursement provided at $0.70 per mile. Most volunteers serve one day a week from about 10:30am-1pm.

Our Ambassador opportunities are flexible both in scheduling and in the variety of ways to help. Each month, we will share a list of Ambassador opportunities and you can choose what best fits your schedule and interests. Ambassador opportunities take 1.5 - 3 hours of time and the majority of them can be completed from home. An Ambassador’s time commitment is flexible, although we ask you sign up for at least four opportunities per year.

LifeWise Delaware City is seeking volunteers to assist children in their LifeWise classes. LifeWise Academy is a Bible-based character education program that exists to reach public school students with the gospel during school hours.

Spend First Fridays in Delaware, Ohio sharing information and stories about the Delaware County Historical Society’s Historic Jail and Sheriff’s Residence.

Built in the 1870’s, the Historic Jail and Sheriff’s Residence is open to the public for tours during Delaware, Ohio’s First Friday events, and we need volunteers to “show off” our jail.  You can choose to greet visitors as they enter the historic facility, or guide them through the sheriff’s living quarters and office or take them through the 16 cell “cell block”.  You will learn and retell stories about the sheriffs who occupied the residence and about inmates who did not want to occupy the jail.

Position Title: Volunteer Shelter Assistant at Turning Point

Key Responsibilities:

Help the Arts Park, gain some experience and use your creativity by joining us as a marketing intern.  Duties may include:

- social media posts

- creative development with Canva

The volunteer will drive our PIN truck to a local Delaware Co. grocery store and pick up their donations of bakery items, produce, and other food items.  They will bring the food back to PIN to be weighed and recorded by category on a donation form.  They will then stock the donated items in the warehouse and/or pantry.  Volunteer can choose the day that works best for their schedule.

Delaware County Historical Society has many program, events, and publications that need the talent of a graphic designer.

Graphic Designers (1-3) – to help create flyers, posters, images for social media and update brochures, etc.

Join us wherever you are to write cards filled with hope, healing and solidarity for survivors of traumatic experiences and PTSD!

We are currently collecting cards to distribute to patients at Linder Center of HOPE, a nonprofit, mental health center in Cincinnati, OH.

Cards will be distributed to individual survivors across the globe, as well as organizations that serve survivors of trauma across Southwestern Ohio and surrounding areas.  Past organizations include: YWCA of Greater Cincinnati and Dayton, Tristate Trauma Network, Lighthouse Youth & Family Services, the Cincinnati VA, Walleyes for Wounded Heroes and Kaleidoscope Youth Center.

This is a great volunteering opportunity for those with any skill set, disability status or age. It can even be used as a form of self-care, art therapy or mindfulness practice! This is a great opportunity to discuss PTSD and mental health awareness with your family, friends or group.

• Represent the Alzheimer's Association at a target of 12 community events / year in neighborhoods, rural counties, business and civic organizations or faith communities.

• Promote support groups, education programs, Alzheimer & Brain Awareness Month, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, or The Longest Day using your local connections, bulletin boards, social media and physical displays in your community.

• Self-motivated individual that is comfortable reaching out to individuals, organizations and families in need and connecting them to the Alzheimer's Association.

These presentations change attitudes, assumptions and ideas about people with mental health conditions. These free, 60-minute presentations provide a personal perspective of mental health conditions, as leaders with lived experience talk openly about what it's like to have a mental health condition.

We acknowledge businesses and individuals who donate money and/or food items to our Pantry.  This information is tracked via an Excel spreadsheet and letters are generated via a Word document.  This task is completed each month. Letterhead, envelopes, return address labels and stamps are provided.  All you need are a PC or laptop, the templates, a printer and ink, envelopes and stamps. This can be accomplished once you receive the list of Food Pantry Donations from the previous month.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide, which suspended operations in Delaware County two years ago as the pandemic worsened, is preparing to return this winter and is looking for volunteers to help restart the service.

The all-volunteer program provides free, no-strings-attached, income tax preparation to anyone, but places a special emphases on serving senior citizens. Before the shutdown, Tax-Aid volunteers prepared tax returns for more than 1,000 residents each year in Delaware, Sunbury, and Orange Township and had just expanded into Ashley.

Volunteers provide a calm and reassuring hand to people who are often fretful about filing their return, make sure clients receive every tax benefit to which they are entitled and save them the often-significant amount of money that private tax preparers charge.

Volunteers make a real, meaningful and measurable difference in the lives of the people they help.

Volunteers come from all walks of life, from accountants to warehouse workers. No experience is required. Tax-Aide provides training, a computer to work on and mentorship throughout the tax season. No one works alone.

We have several properties that have gardens, and we need volunteers to help us maintain these gardens.  A volunteer can "adopt a garden" and be completely responsible for its maintenance, or can sign up for weeding or planting gardens.

Peer to Peer is 8-week educational program for those with a mental health condition or experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition that addresses vision and goal planning, coping mechanism and stress management, healthy decision making, etc.

What is a Peer to Peer Instructor? 

A Peer to Peer Instructor teaches a class, directly from a manual, about vision and goal planning, coping mechanism and stress management, healthy decision making, etc. 

What is Family to Family?

Family to Family is an 8-week educational program for families, significant others, and friends of people with mental health conditions that addresses communication skills, up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain, crisis management, current treatments, and therapies, etc.

What is a Family to Family Instructor?

A family to family instructor teaches a class, directly from a manual, about up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain, crisis management, current treatments and therapies, and communication skills.  

What is a Family Support Group?

A Family Support Group gives support for caregivers, family members, and partners caring for loved ones with mental health conditions through conversation and community.

Do you like socializing with others about the way things used to be? If you have a few hours a month on Sunday afternoon, we have a fun volunteer activity for you. We need docents to help educate the public about Meeker. Our Meeker Homestead Museum is open by appointment.  We need docents to show off our beautiful Meeker property

Docents greet visitors and help guide them through the Meeker Homestead Museum, and explain or add information to the exhibits that are at the Meeker Homestead Museum. You will receive training at the beginning of April, one-on-one training can be provided if you wish to start later in the year.  Help us spotlight this property gem to the public.

Our pantry is open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to Noon.  We need volunteers to check shoppers in, help them shop as needed, help shoppers carry items to their car, rotate stock (stock shelves), clean (vacuuming and wiping carts, tables and handles down), accept deliveries from Mid-Ohio Foodbank.  

We need an additional volunteer to pick up the Panera Bread leftover at the end of the day on Monday nights.  We pick up at the Delaware store, 750 W. Central Ave. Volunteers need to arrive by 9 p.m. and let the store staff know that you are picking up the donation.  At that point, you get garbage bags of bagels, bread (sliced and unsliced) and pastries.  Then you bag it up at home and deliver it to the pantry in time for Tuesday morning's pantry hours 10 a.m. to Noon. We need a volunteer for the 3rd and 5th Mondays.

If you like to hear stories and you like to learn about the history of Delaware County, this project is right for you.  We need people who enjoy talking to people and who will listen to their stories.  We will help with the interview questions and will direct you to those whom we think should be interviewed, so you just bring your interest and your listening and your questions.  The interviews are recorded so that we can store them in our archives.
