Andrews House provides legal consults with lawyers, but prior to those consults we need individuals to complete Intake Calls with the potential clients.

This opportunity involves calling individuals who are seeking legal counsel, following a protocol in chatting with them (we provide the you with a worksheet with a specific set of questions.

Individuals who have some legal knowledge such as paralegals or retired legal professionals tend to excel in this volunteer role. That said, you do not need to have a legal background to do this. A few things that will help you in this role are patience, empathy, and a willingness to stick to the worksheet. 

This opportunity can be done remotely via phone, but we prefer in-person at our location 39 W. Winter St.

Each summer, Andrews House assists with Delaware City Schools' free lunch program. Volunteers come into the kitchen at Andrews House and pack lunches for families in-need. We will have more information in the spring of 2027 about the dates for summer. 

The Andrews House property is approximately 10,000 sq ft and we often have a need for cleaning, sprucing up, and organization types of projects, both interior and exterior.

We appreciate individuals with experience painting and an attention to detail as we take pride in offering a historical space for events and meetings for the Delaware community. 

Each year Andrews House hosts an AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Clinic. This event occurs in February but we do not yet have the dates set for 2027. In 2026, the clinics were held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from approximately 8am-5pm (with client appointments from 9am-3pm).  The max amount of preparers in one-day has been 10, least was 5. The opportunity is a bit flexible depending on your availability which can be discussed with the AARP contacts.

This all-volunteer program provides free, no-strings-attached, income tax preparation to anyone, but places a special emphasis on serving senior citizens.

In past years, volunteers have prepared tax returns for more than 1,000 residents in Delaware, Sunbury, Ashley, and Orange Township.

Volunteers provide a calm and reassuring hand to people who are often fretful about filing their return. They make sure clients receive every tax benefit to which they are entitled and save them the often-significant amount of money that private tax preparers charge.

Volunteers make a real, meaningful and measurable difference in the lives of the people they help.

Volunteers come from all walks of life, from accountants to warehouse workers. No experience is required. Tax-Aide provides training, a computer to work on, and mentorship throughout the tax season. No one works alone.

The Andrews House property is quite large and because we are located on a corner lot, we have a lot of outside space to maintain. We appreciate help with seasonal snow and ice removal. This is a great opportunity for someone who lives near our building - 39 W Winter St, Delaware Ohio. We have equipment and salt but also welcome you to bring your own.

This opportunity is seasonal and flexible. We have tools and equipment on-site but if you prefer to use your own that's fine too. 

The Mobile Market is an event that happens twice per month at Newstart Church in Delaware, Ohio. Volunteers do a variety of things including setting up tables, unloading a box truck of fresh produce and grocery items, sorting and organizing the items, loading plastic crates and boxes with the items, communicating with families at curbside, loading the crates into vehicles. Then cleaning up which includes breaking down cardboard, cleaning and breaking down tables.
Typically we serve approximately 100-130 households at each event.
This occurs the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. The event goes from 8:30am-11:30am.

Serve on the Andrews House governing board. Board meetings are the last Thursday of every month at 6pm in-person at our location (39 W Winter St Delaware, Ohio).  We are looking for people who are passionate about our mission and whose skills can benefit the governance and leadership of our organization.  Join a dynamic group dedicated to our community! Monthly commitment is a minimum of 4 hours but we have sub-committees that meet in between the monthly meetings.  
Board Member Term is 3 years.
